Welcome in the CLUB 604 INTERNATIONAL web site 

Originally the 604 was E24, a project developed in close collaboration with Italian car-designer Pininfarina in the early seventies. Reviving a tradition of top-of-the-range car, PEUGEOT exhibited the 604 at the Geneva Car Show in March 1975.

With the version V6 SL, the car appealed straight away to the public praising :
-          the classical beauty of the lines
-          a welcoming and warm passenger cell
-          a driving on raods and motorways with complete peace of mind
-          an extreme comfort
-          the brand image of a prestigious car  

For the year 1978, the car is equipped with a fuel-injection engine, a five-gear box (which was not very common at that time), things backing up the fact that the 604 was really an elite car. Then, in spring 1979, as a big first, the model was equipped with a turbo-diesel engine (2.304 cm3) showing that diesel could go together with a top-of-the-range car.Until 1986, further evolution enabled Peugeot to equip the V6 fuel-injection 604 with a 2.849 cmengine and the diesel-turbo with a 2.498 cm3engine. Throughout the time were made successive improvements of the cell, suspensions and tyres, with continuously showed the 604 was a great tourer and fast silent vehicle with a concern about passengers' relaxing.

The PEUGEOT 604 is a milestone in the French history of car-making and has symbolized social success "made in France", after so many years dedicated by the French car-industry to producing good quality models indeed, but they were less famous than other European car-makers' vehicles. It was integrated into the car-fleets of embassies, big companies, several government departments and the Elysée, of course! Many celebrities owned a 604 among them :

-         M. Vitas GERULAITIS (tennis champion)

-         M. Lionel POILÂNE (industrialist)
-         M. Achille ZAVATTA (artiste)
-         M. Yves SAINT LAURENT (top fashion designer)
-         M. Edouard-Jean EMPAIN (industrialist)

Famous coachbuilder Henri CHAPRON achieved deluxe inside equipments from standard cars. He also created a very special Landaulet, two models were made. Company HEULIEZ designed six-seats limousines with luxury equipments on buyers' specific requests. 

Created in 1996, Club 604 International welcomes 604-enthusiasts worldwide, as well as 504 V6, 505 V6 and TALBOT TAGORA aficonados.
